North Shore Wedding; Land of Rainbows, Waves, and Hula Dancers

Posted by

We traveled to the “Fabled” North Shore of Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands to attend our friend’s wedding. Arrival a few days early insured attendance at the bachelor poker game, friends & family pre-wedding brunch, and time to take in the surf with my hubby’s “old” high school gang. A huge swell arrived to the shore just as we did, so everyone was overjoyed.

The wedding took place on Ke Iki Beach right in front of our friend’s home. In the course of the 20 minute ceremony, we shared in bright sun, pouring rain, and a gorgeous rainbow. The minister said it meant a long and prosperous marriage for the wedding couple. I’m sure it meant all of that, and also perhaps the fact that they were super cool folks who didn’t mind being sopping wet on their wedding day and knew how to go with the flow, literally . Luckily for me I had my parasol (http://www.pamelasparasols.com) for sun/rain so I was good to go.

The reception was held at Waimea Valley in the Pikake Pavillion, and included hula dancers (male and female), Hawaiian live music, and a rocking D.J. The groom even called for a “guys only” dance to the Rolling Stones “Miss You.”

As we left our island vacation to head back home, we realized we had relived some crazy memories from long ago and also made some new ones in a tropical paradise.
