After spending the last 2 weeks unpacking, we were ready to host our Aussie friends for dinner. They were in the United States for the first time, and had been traveling from NY to Florida, to Vegas (in the summer) and they were ready for a home cooked meal. To make things a tad more exciting, Scott took them SUP (stand up paddle boarding) in Malibu before dinner. A few cocktails later, after appetizers and salad, our electricity went out! It turned out to be the electrician in the parking garage setting up our electric car plug “after hours”. A bottle of wine later, we were back in business and ready for the main course.
We also purchased cruiser bikes because living in a city apartment means we can bike to shops and restaurants. With the new bikes, I got a pamphlet explaining the bike laws. I learned that riding on a sidewalk is a “no no,” and a helmet is optional. Thanks to the advice from worried friends, I will be purchasing a helmet this weekend. By the way, riding a bike to and from the restaurant makes you feel OK about ordering dessert! Bonus!
